Mt. Triumph as seen from the...

Mt. Triumph as seen from the col. The notch in the NE ridge is seen towards the right of the photo. From the notch, there is a short rise (pitch 1) to another notch, and then a longer step (pitch 2). On top of this step is an awesome bivy site. Note how little snow is left. (Aug 13, 2005).

THere's hardly any snow left!?? I can't believe how dry it is!

Thanks, Radek! Yeah, we were surprised too. There are photos on SP from late Sept that show more snow than this. In fact it looked like we wouldn't need to cross any snow at all, although there was one small section in a gully ... in a few weeks it will be hard to cross as the moats get larger ...

Looks like a Mini Matterhorn viewed from Italy. You can see the

Arête du Lion protruding from the side of the mountain.

Cool! Considering that's the closest I'll be to climbing the "real" Matterhorn, at least for the foreseeable future :)
