My 2003 list2004 - Year two
2004 was another great year as I was able to visit over 70 highpoints during the year despite balancing a full time job in the mix. This was also a year where I was able to make some great trips with friends
Bob and
Dennis, aa couple lasting most of a week, others lasting over a long three day weekend.
The county highpointing quest continued full bore in 2004 and I made several trips into Idaho, California and Nevada with Bob and Dennis. However, I began to get into chasing prominence peaks thanks again to the influence of Bob who had basically become more enthusiastic about bagging peaks with prominence and county highpoints became secondary. Special memories from 2004 were the experiences of getting stuck in the mud 20 miles from a highway and suffering a broken finger on my attempt to go up
the Mountaineers route on Mt. Whitney. That injury kept me from getting a scheduled trip to Mt. Jefferson with Dennis and some other friends which was
a big loss for me since they made the summit and it was a strong team. On Mount Grafton in Nevada, I messed up my medial mediscus and that required almost two months of physical therapy but I tested it before the year was over on Yolo's Little Blue Peak. But all in all, 2004 was an outstanding year, filled with great memories and my second year as a peakbagger.
County Highpoints dominated 2004 as you can see from the chart in the section below with:
California - 27
Idaho - 18
Nevada - 8
Utah - 6
Washington - 2
Prominence peaks (not county highpoints)
Utah's Flat Top Mountain is an ultra peak and Idaho's Snowbank Peak is also a prominence peak but both are included in the chart below. All of the above peaks were done with Bob and Dennis was involved in all but two of them. Bob and I did 29 of the highpoints together and Dennis and I did 27 together which indicates how fortunate I am to have great friends like
the two of them. I also did 13 solo and four with my wife. Her first peak with a register and benchmark was on Carpenter Peak in Sacramento California. She did a lot of the driving after I broke my finger on Mt. Whitney and it was a lot of fun to do those four with her.

County highpointing map
This map lacks three additional county highpoints that I've done in Idaho but other than that, it is accurate.
Tweaking & 2005
I'm continually making changes to my SP efforts and so I will be adding more pictures to this page by inserting them in the date/TR column.
My next project will be putting together a 2005 list of summits visited.
