Great Langdale campsite
In the heart of the English Lake District and easily accesible from Ambleside lies this National Trust campsite. The site accomodates tents, motor homes and even has mini 2 person cabins for hire. All facilities are excellent and cater for most of the needs of hillwalkers, climbers and ordinary tourists.An innovative carbon neutral boilerhouse provides hot water for the washing facilities and the drying room. A small shop also provides some food items, maps and camping kit bits for repairs or supplements for stuf you've forgotten. Myriads of small birds inhabit the site's hedges providing welcome morning alarm calls and may even join you for breakfast.
Just a little way back along the road from the campsite you can find the Sticklebarn pub/restaurant which is also owned and run by the National Trust and which serves nourishing food and plenty of real ales.
