This was hardcore!!

I love the rappell down to the floor. This was clear a classic. I have been in three other caves, and none of them come even close to the thrill factor of this cave. It was a total rush.

Re: This was hardcore!!

I'm going to plan my own trip back to that area for Cascade Cave possibly within the next few weeks. You are invited if you would like to come along.

Re: This was hardcore!!

I might be game on that one. Hopefully there is a rappell on it!

Serious Caving!

Now I've been caving three times, but nothing like what you were doing - serious stuff! Nice album.

Re: Serious Caving!

Thanks Mark. I appreciate your feedback. I've been on a handful of easy caving tours but I always wanted to get off the damn walkways and do my own thing. This is the first time I was on such an independent trip. It was a lot of fun and I plan to explore more caves in the future

Re: Serious Caving!

On my caving trips we did some major "crawling on the belly", and plenty of crawls thru some narrow slots, but no ropes, etc. You did some serious caving! Don't know about you, but I've always been so happy to see daylight after a long day in a cave!

When I scrolled thru the Area/Range page for the Alpine Lakes Wilderness I couldn't believe how beautiful those lakes are. What an awesome place to live by! I'm thinking I need to finally visit the PNW.

Happy Trails,
Mark

Re: Serious Caving!

I know the feeling. After 7 hours I was really looking forward to seeing some natural light and feeling a breeze on my face. I'll be a posting a trip report here within the next few days. You're right about another thing too. I've been to many places around the country and I'm still convinced that I live in one of the best spots for outdoor activities. I hope you get a chance to check it out over here. Cheers, Adam

Newton Cave memories

I've been in there a few times but never with a rope to negotiate the major drops. Especially fond of the Flute room and the chaotic layout of the passages. Thanks for posting this gimpilator---explore some others up there, love to see more pictures

Not quite that deep :)

Hey Gimpilator! (you're on Cascade Climbers too right?!) Just a head's up, Newton's (surveyed) depth is only 510 feet. Sadly, this makes it the second deepest cave in Washington after Ape Cave (598 feet). I have several maps of the cave I can PM you if you're interested!
