There is a short but fun hike up a peak called Bald Knob near Moultonborough. It's one of my favorite quick hikes, and the views from the summit (1800 ft) are amazing - you end up looking south across Lake Winnipesaukee. The parking area is just off Rt. 171 near the Moultonborough/Tuftonborough town border.
