Niederfalkenstein

Niederfalkenstein is one of the landmarks of Kaernten, Austria. In written documents it was first mentioned in the 12th century. One hipothesys says that the castle was perhaps established by the Romanized people of Teurnia, who had to flee from their town in late antique. In the middle ages the castle was changing owners, until finally it was almost completely destroyed. Today it is again nicely renovated - owned by a family of Austrian hotelirs. December 28th, 2016.
