I didn't even recognize Hood from this perspective. Lovely Shot!

Thanks! You don't see a lot of shots of the true north face of Hood. I think it's because you have to go off-trail to get on top of the ridges that block most of the view from the Timberline Trail. Barrett Spur really is my favorite view anywhere on the mountain and it doesn't get much traffic.

Thanks much! I'm starting a new job on this coming Monday and took a week off so it was great to get one last hike in before it turns into snowshoeing season. Going off-season midweek was great...I had the whole place to myself. Heavy snow is falling there now so it looks like the official end to the alpine hiking season in the PNW.

What ???

When I resided in the PNW, there was something
called "winter mountaineering." People would
"pit" themselves against the elements.

Then again, it would be great to get out the
snowshoes and cross-country skis and take
advantage of the snow conditions. Snoqualmie
Pass and Chinook Pass were always my
favorite hang-outs!

Now, I live in Arizona, and all I worry about
is getting "too much" sun. Nice photograph!!!

I think there was a small misunderstanding...I meant that the hiking season in the higher elevations is over; this is just the beginning of the winter season of mountaineering, snowshoeing and skiing. Hopefully, this little storm over the next week dumps enough to go take advantage of it.
