Northern Pacific Rattlesnake

Cronin Ranch Trails Regional Park, April 24, 2010. The park is north of Coloma on highway 49 in the Sierra Nevada Foothills. This snake was a young one, about 14 inches long, and was resting right on the trail. I almost stepped on him!

That's a great picture! If it was in the sierras then it's a northern pacific rattlesnake
