NW Face of Oak Creek Spire

NW Face of Oak Creek Spire

This 350-foot high sandstone spire is a prominent landmark on the southern end of Arizona's Lee Mountain. It stands atop a juniper-covered knoll next to its "sister formation," Punk Rock spire. If you like bushwhacking, this one's for you! Your efforts will be rewarded if you have an affinity for colourful sandstone formations, whether you actually climb this bugger or not. I looked at it with my mouth open for nearly two hours. January 16, 2009
