Inspiration Point Trailhead

Attempted Arlington Peak via Inspiration Point Trailhead, Spyglass Ridge Road, and Cathedral Peak Trail. We were on the trail at 12:25 and made it about half-way up the Southeast ridge by 1:30 before deciding to turn around due to a lack of sufficient water and very little shade on the trail. Party of 2. 1.8 miles and 1 hour 5 minutes to the turnaround point. Weather was sunny and unexpectedly hot (low 90's) with no wind. 1,300 ft elevation gain to the turnaround. 2 hour 5 minutes round trip.

Southeast Ridge  Sucess!

From Mission Canyon over to Cathedral and then on up to La Cumbre. Returned the tunnel trail. A long loop. Fun scrambling up Arlington and La Cumbre.

Cracking  Sucess!

Up Arlington from Mission Canyon via the Dragon's Back, certainly a good test to see what kind of shape you're in! Some pretty gritty and sharp rocks around, long clothing items not the worst idea, or a first aid kit. Pretty hot and dry air, even early on a November morning. Views of surrounding hills and over to the Channel Islands made the effort worthwhile.

Nice scramble, climbed with Cathedral Peak. Beautiful area, very glad to have made the drive up!

This enjoyable duo was quite a nice surprise, steep and adventurous and hiking a purely sandstone mountain was our first. The only downside is the dearth of signs and confusing array of use trails down below. Otherwise, quite a treat.

Southeast Ridge  Sucess!

Sneaked out from family Xmas gathering in SB for a couple hours to hike with brother John. This is really enjoyable scramble up a spiney ridge that is noticeable from almost everywhere in the Santa Barbara area. The sandstone boulders on the ridge are beautiful, arcing up 1500 vertical feet and offering numerous scrambling and bouldering opportunities along the way. Stubby and charred chaparral can be quite brutal on exposed skin. Next time I'm back in SB I'll be doing this one again!
