An ascent of Muriel Peak from the lowest of the Lost Lakes can be used to access Alpine Col without the tediousness of having to scramble through Goethe Cirque and climbing the loose crud to Alpine Col from the north. It is an easy scramble from Muriel Peak down to Alpine Col.
