I believe this area is part of the rock band that runs east-west on the south side of the mountain, just north of the road between the East View and West View parking lots, and is closer to the East View than it is to the West View. If so, then an approach via the blue-blazed trail doesn't seem to make sense. If you park at the West View lot, the shortest way would be to walk east on the road till you see your preferred climbing area to the north.

Kitchen ConfidentialI'm the King of Sugarloaf! One of my favorite secret routes to the top includes a non-technical scramble just to the left of this area.
