Ohrid town is placed on the...

Ohrid town is placed on the NE shore of Ohrid Lake (693m). It is over 2000 years old. Ohrid has amazing history, more about it on the main page. It was placed along the very important Via Egnatia, famous Roman trading route which connected Adriatic Sea with near east and today's Istanbul and was one of more important towns in the region. Core of the old town is placed around the hill below fortress. Ohrid is fantastic blend of western, oriental and its own architectural style. Town is protected by UNESCO as part of World Heritage.
