Okshornan

No, it's not part of Breitind, but it's only a 20 minute drive away, and is a tempting climbing target. I havn't found any climbing information about these peaks so far.

Strikingly beautiful!

You seldom see peaks like this rising from the sea.

Re: Strikingly beautiful!

Thanks. It's even more seldom to see them in these conditions. The jagged edge of Arctic Norway tends to be a bad weather magnet.

Re: whoa!

Thanks, right back at you, those are some crazy looking peaks you've been to in the Andes.

Okshornan ascent

You may find some photos from a hike to the main summit of Okshornan 559 m summer 2011 on Facebook http://www.facebook.com/photo.php?fbid=10150205449427531&set=a.10150205448132531..312780.617832530&type=1#!/media/set/?set=a.10150205448132531.312780.617832530

We found a cairn on the summit probably from the first ascent by Norwegian mountaineer Peter Wessel Zappfe around 1920-1930

Re: Wow!

Thanks. There are a lot of great pictures of this area, but it's poorly presented on summitpost...so far.
