Re: re:?Awfully close together for tower anchors, which usually use cables (cheaper), not chains. The types of bolts and chains used (notice the larger links on the ends) are typical of a rappel anchor for rock climbers. Those chains are the perfect length for draping over the edge at the back of the photo, and I think I can see some wear/staining of the rock to confirm they've been used that way.

ChainsYour right, since there is a fire tower located on the actual summit of Big Moose, there would be no need for a structure here, also the bolts are too new for anything in regards to fire tower since the forest service abandoned the structures years ago. There were also anchors at the bottom on the other side of the rock with old rope ends attached, which would make perfect sense. Thanks for the insight nartreb.
