Old vs. New Mt. Taylor

Mount Taylor used to be almost 16,000 feet above sea level prior to the eruption, which occurred 2.5 million years ago. The blast was very similar to what happened at Mt. St. Helens with the eastern slope of the former peak completely giving way in a gigantic mudslide.

Wow...

That is really something. Sucks that it isn't that big anymore. That would be an awesome mountain to climb.

stil pretty big

yeah it sucks this could be the highest peak in the lower 48, but it still not that small
