On Arnoldshöhe, 2729 m

This is where the Hannover hut had stood for over 100 years until it was completely taken down in 2013. Now, the little mausoleum to Carl Johann Moritz Arnold stands all on it's own on this mountain top on the border between Salzburg Land and Carinthia.

Taken down

Great shot Eric! Why was the hut taken down? And did they rebuild it somewhere else perhaps?

Re: Taken down

Thanks a lot, Lodewijk!
It had been decided in 2012 for economic reasons to take down the hut and build a new one about 150 meters below. Since December 2013 this new hut is in operation. In August 2014, what was still left of the old hut on the top of Arnoldshöhe caught fire (the cause is still not known for sure) and was destroyed completely. There are no more traces of it to be seen any more.
