Welp...set a spell and I'll spin ye some yerns. Thisshear's the story:
So, we spent Thanksgiving (me, husband, mom, dad) at my sister's (with her husband and my nephew) in Pikeville. Eating too much food, exploring the hills, etc. (They just moved to KY from West Virginia.)
But, you see...I've got deep family roots down in these parts. I torment my mother, who is 50% hillbilly, by referring to this element of our heritage as her "Appalachian Family Wreath" - trees have branches / forks, of course - wreaths just keep going around and around and around... We also make plenty of jokes about "BYOS Churches" - that is, "Bring Your Own Snake." Muahahaha!
So, I guess you could say that in addition to celebrating Thanksgiving with family, we were celebrating our "ethnic heritage" in eastern Kentucky. :)
