Bashkaus Mountains are in the remote Eastern part of Altay, towards the boundary with Tuva. Despite recieving less snow in the winter, Mongun Taiga massif of Eastern Altay has substantial modern glaciation. View from near the timberline in the headwaters of Oroy, a minor tributary of Chuya serving as a gateway from Chibit Bridge to the vast Shavla Basin of North Chuyskie Belki Mountains.
