Ouachita Trail Trailhead, Talimena State Park

My son, Curtis, stands at the western start of the Ouachita Trail near Talihina, OK. Parts of this trail are open to mountain biking, though it can be a "little" rocky. It can also be a bit dry in parts; when we backpacked it (couple years before image was taken), we stashed water using the Talimena Skyline Drive to access appropriate points. You can also hike the Boardstand Trail and the Old Military Road from this trailhead, which provide more opportunity for retrieving water from creeks. Imaged in November 2002.
