Our camp the night before climbing North Palisade via the U-Notch/Chimney variation, August 8, 1987

We were the only people up there that we could see except for a couple trying to descend the U-Notch. They ended up having to bivy there. We passed them on the way up the U-Notch and asked them if they were ok. They looked totally exhausted, but made it down ok. It took us twice as long to descend North Palisade as it did to go up! We made the mistake of bringing only one of our 9mm double ropes. Both of them would have been much better.
