Personal Review

I've only used this daypack on one summit so far (SummitPost Trip Report), but it performed admirably. I tried it on in the store carrying it around with 20 lb in it. I tried several others, but this one was recommended by the REI sales guy and seemed to fit me the best. Factor in the price ($65) and the fact that I got 20% off of that by joining REI and it was the clear winner.

Pluses

The pack fit me really well. I was able to make small adjustments on the trail as I hiked to fine tune the fit, but overall, the pack rode well and was not a hinderance. I found there was ample pockets for my stuff. I filled the large pocket mainly with water and snacks, the smaller pockets with sunscreen, lip balm, map, compass, first aid kit, etc. My personals (wallet, keys, pen, etc) fit nicely in the top lined compartment. The pack appears to be rugged as I fell on it with no tears, rips or indications of it. The price was right.

Minuses

I found it to be a bit of a stretch to get to the water bottles out of the mesh pockets. In fact, each time I wanted to get to water, I had to take the pack off. This has led me to seriously consider purchasing the hydration kit for this pack. The pockets on the lower straps were difficult to access as well.
