Over There

January is not the height of the crane migration (November is) but it was a wonderful morning to see these birds. We also caught a family of mule deer on the way out but they were too far to catch a good shot of. This refuge in south central New Mexico is a fantastic place. Roosting in the trees outside the visitor's center were hundreds of red-winged blackbirds. And I have heard that you may even spot a golden eagle or two.
