First Bear Sighting  Sucess!

Hiked up before I had to go to work in the afternoon. First 2 miles rolled through the woods fairly easy. The last mile gains about 1,000 ft, moderately up to a small col and then down slightly to the old fire observer's cabin site and then the final steep (1/4 mile) climb up to the summit. The summit and fire tower have great views. Great day for a hike, AND saw a bear run across the trail about 50 feet in front of me. Took just over 3 hours round trip and that includes 30 minutes on the summit. This is a good hike for all ages and the trail is in great condition.
