Pacific Crest Trail

My proposed adjustment to the current route of the PCT. The original route is in red. My proposed route is in blue. New trail would need to be built to connect the PCT to the river and from the Castle Crags campground up to the Castle Dome trailhead. The reroute makes the PCT more interesting and scenic, a more memorable river crossing on a footbridge, a less intrusive freeway crossing, a campground, and a chance to see the Crags from the scenic overlook at the Castle Dome trailhead. Conversely, the other route simply passes through forest cover and crosses the river on a road bridge. The one pro of the current route? Easy hitchhiking into town where the PCT passes under I-5.
