Painted Hills Fossil Beds

Note: The main valley at the Painted Hills Unit of the John Day Fossil Beds has been closed for the past 9 months due the vegetation is dying off. This image is the first hillside on the left of the Main Valley that you see as you enter along the road that leads towards the viewpoint. I took this 2 years ago as I lead a photographic group yearly into the John Day Fossil Beds at no charge.
