Thats pretty heavy discharge for Palouse Falls. The only time I have seen it bigger was in Feb. 1996 when the Palouse River was having a 250 year flood event.

Re: volume

That is a great insight as to the volume. I have seen it before but it was in February during a cold spell. Thanks for your input.

Thank you Theron. I wish this picture could capture the sound as well.

Thank you!

I visited the falls about 20 years ago with my friend, who was living in Walla Walla at the time. I've always remembered the falls, but not their name. An amazing place.

Re: Thank you!

Thanks Lisae....yeah, to "find" that in the middle of nowhere is great stuff. I was amazed by this waterfall the first time I saw it last year. I had to go back again and will again next year....

I lived in Pullman

for 4 years and I never visited those falls. I missed out!

Re: I lived in Pullman

You are not the lone ranger. It took me almost 30 years to get out to see the falls last year.
I didn't realize what I had been missing.

Re: looks

It does doesn't it. The river makes a 90 bend before it goes over the falls. Thanks !!!

great shot

the water looks as if it's coming out of nowhere.

Re: great shot

The river takes a 90 degree turn and drops over, creating that effect. There was a young Montana kid who went over in a kayak. See here for LINK that has pics.

Wonderful photo!

A very good spot you chose to photograph this waterfall - puts the Iffigen Falls into a rather "miniscule" position...:-)

Re: Wonderful photo!

Thank you Eric, I appreciate your nice comments. Palouse Falls is an unexpected sight in the middle of the eastern Washington desert country.

Spectacular falls!!

I doubt very many people across the USA know of these falls.

Re: Spectacular falls!!

There's a lot of people in eastern washington who haven't heard of the falls. I was one of them for 30 years, much to my regret.
