Panorama North from Kennedy Mountain

The view north from Kennedy Mountain, across Tehipite Valley. Mount Goddard is the highpoint just left of center. North Palisade is highpoint lacking snow above the tree covered rise to the right. Split Mountain is the dark peak on the horizon, slightly to the right of the benchmark in the foreground. June 2010

Incredible clarity !

So, what is the peak to the extreme far right?
Is Split Mountain shaped like a pyramid?

Golly gee, what an awesome picture! !

Re: Incredible clarity !

Thanks Larry. Yes, it was a remarkably clear weekend, and lovely views.

I may replace this photo with a labeled version, there is a lot visible in it, but it might take me a couple days, and it takes a while for the image on SP to update.

Until then, the tall pyramid shaped peak on the far right, with the snow on its slopes and the bowl to its left is State Peak. It is actually about half the distance as Split Mountain. Split Mountain is back on the horizon a little further left, with very little snow and slightly sawtooth on the its ridge coming down to the right.

Re: Incredible clarity !

This is a quote from SP-member Bob Burd:

"...an ambitious 40-mile, 10,000ft effort out of Roads End near Cedar Grove in SEKI NP..."

It must be close to the Black Divide.

Wow, that really gives your photo perspective!

Re: Incredible clarity !

Bob dayhikes some peaks I'd prefer to do in three... but he has motivated me to push myself a bit.

Its a little south of the Black Divide, on Cirque Crest, about the same distance though. BTW I updated the other photo with labels, check it out...
