Panorama of Vallüla from the southwest

I've just left the Bielerspitze (25) and have been going east on the ridge leading to Vallüla (2813m). So far it's been easy, but I know that won't last. While I don't know quite what difficulties to expect, I do know that the normal route to Vallüla doesn't follow the ridge, but involves climbing a steep, snow filled couloir from the right, and is rated UIAA grade II. That implies that the ridge will be harder than that. And before even getting close to Vallüla itself, there is the summit of Klein Vallüla (2643m) - the dark outline of which is visible directly in front of my main objective. Even if I can follow the ridge up to Klein Vallüla, the saddle separating it from Vallüla lies just above 2500m, and from looking at the contours I could see that the ridge on either side of the saddle is quite steep. But to get somewhere without knowing the route has it's own rewards, and I'm enjoying myself while trying. 21 July 2013.
