Paria River area

Paria River area

When coming down the Cottonwood Canyon road in the Escalante-Staircase national monument, a very rough road BTW, one of the roughest areas is about ten miles north of highway 89. It is where the Paria River cuts through some terrain that is a clay-shale like material and a bit of rain makes this area impassable and not a place to be in poor weather. Still, it has its own beauty and for those who have the vehicle, good weather and the desire, this road is an interesting side trip in and of itself. This is looking north 8-27-09
