Peak 12,025 and Route Options

Seen from the south. The saddle between Peaks 11,804 and 12,025 is visible. Notice a goat trail leading up to a chimney. That chimney of the crux of the climb; it's about 80' of Class 4 on surprisingly good rock for the Absarokas. After that, some easy scrambling gets you to the false summit, and from there it's easy hiking to the real summit, seen to the right. An alternative method might be to go from the saddle around to the right and then up, but the snow looks problematic here, and the talus is probably very loose. I'd only try that way if you don't like Class 4 or if the snow is melted out. Absaroka Range, Wyoming-- July 2014
