Moonscape
The trail head noted in the description is no longer possible. The lot south of the Insurance Office is under construction and fenced off for a new hotel. Instead, I parked at the end of 350 Solomon Circle, in front of Ebara Corporation. Access through a gated vacant lot, then onto the jeep road noted. Much of the area suffered a wildfire recently, so the landscape was mostly a barren moonscape. Not a tree or shrub in site. The trail flattens toward the top before the final steep climb to the summit cone. The rock formations near the summit are interesting. Rhyloite Tuff. Quite windy at the top. There is also a Benchmark Disc (CAVOR) on a small ridge south of the broad flat summit. The top peak is super steep on the north and west sides, dropping over 900 feet, with the only feasible access via a steep ridge northeast of the summit.
