Personal List |
Below are simple tables outlining my personal altitude records for each month. These tables are for informational and message board purposes.
Only states where I have climbed or hiked in more than 8 months a year are listed. Also listed are my personal altitude records in the United States, World, and sleeping altitude records in various states, the US, and the World.
I moved to Colorado in May 2001. I have climbed "14ers" in every month in Colorado and have done a a lot of climbing there year round. I have done more winter mountaineering here than any other state. Someday I hope to climb Mount Elbert (the highest mountain in Coloado) all twelve months of the year.

I have climbed more summits in Utah than any other state and I have climbed a lot of mountains year round in Utah. In Utah, my records aren't as high as those in Colorado, even taking in consideration the difference in peak elevations between the two states. In winter and spring especially, most of the highest peaks in Utah area much less accessible than the peaks in Colorado. I lived in Utah most of the time between 1977 and 2001 (with brief stints in Wyoming and Missouri), but didn't start winter climbing on a really regular basis until 1997. Now that I moved closer to Utah (Grand Junction Colorado), I'll be working on more off season ascents, especially in the La Sal Mountains.

I have hiked or climbed in at least eleven months in Arizona. Usually when I go to Arizona I have headed for the canyons and desert, so most of the altitude records are pretty low here in comparison to the highest peaks.

I have climbed, hiked, or snowshoed in at least 10 months in Wyoming. Many of the elevation records aren't that impressive since I have done few of the highest peaks in the off season in Wyoming.

I have climbed, hiked, or snowshoed in at least 8 months in Nevada. Many of the elevation records aren't that impressive since I have done few of the highest peaks in the off season. As a child we used to visit places such as Lehmans Cave and other areas of Nevada many times (my Grandparents lived in Delta Utah), so I probably have hiked in more months than the below chart indicates.

Most personal altitude records for the United States were set in Colorado, but July belongs to California. In the United States, only Alaska has higher mountains than California, but the mountains I have climbed in Alaska weren't among the highest in that state.

One of my monthly personal altitude records belong to Colorado. Peru has the most records with five out of twelve months being recorded there. Ecuador, Mexico, Russia, Tanzania, Turkey, and Nepal have one monthly record each. I used to have the goal of climbing 8000 meter peaks, but I don't think I have what it takes anymore.

Just for the heck of it, here are the lowest points that I have reached each month. Since I was born near sea level, places with a zero elevation were listed far away from home and I have been to sea level many times in many years. I have only been below sea level a few times though.
