Peter & his gear

Peter & his gear

One aspect of climbing in the Pinnacles is the parking lot scene. Most climbers arrive early when climbing on the East Side so they can park in the small upper lot. Driving into the lot, I get a bit excited, anticipating who I might meet there. This day, Peter was there. It was nice to get a chance to catch up and hear some stories. Image taken 11/18/06.

Yep,

from my experience it helps to get
to that Bear Gulch parking lot
early. When I worked there in
1996, the rangers were really
cracking down on illegal parking.
I ended up riding a bicycle to
wherever I wanted to go. It's
a really nice place to climb, and
at the time wasn't very busy
during the weekdays. Take care!!

Re: Yep,

You worked at the Pinnacles? Lucky you!

You can't take bikes on the trails and I've never even seen anyone ride on the road. It is a short walk from the lower lot to the upper lot but everyone I know wants to park in the upper lot. The 'apres' climbing parties are better. :) The Pinnacles still isn't crowded on weekdays. And the West Side is rarely crowded, even on weekends.
