Peter Valchev on Carlsberg Column

Peter Valchev on Carlsberg Column

Peter Valchev pauses low on Carlsberg Column (60m, WI5), asking himself the all-important question, "Why am I not wearing Gore-Tex?" March 18, 2007.

Nice caption, as I have never missed my goretex more! Thanks for the company and entertainment, it was a blast. :)

Cool shot

Or should I say "chilly?" Now that I think I know what I am looking at, this pic is truly exciting.....and possibly drippy.

Re: Cool shot

It was actually not that cold - which is of course why it was drippy. Kind of like climbing in the rain.

Peter and I were both pretty much soaked. Our boots were squishing from all the water that had wicked in from our soft shell pants, which were utterly saturated.

Steve on the other hand wore gore-tex from head to toe and seemed to be pretty dry at the end. Bastard ! :)

When you can snatch the ice screw from my hand Grasshopper, then you will be ready.

Very Nice!

Excellent job! You captured the excitement of the climb, and the color of the ice beautifully.

Too often these images are the all too ubiquitous (for SP) butt-shots. Thanks for stepping to the side before pressing the shutter release. :-) --mark d.
