Hiked up to the top of Black Mountain (the one above Los Altos) yesterday evening .. still some snow at the higher elevations, but it seemed to be melting rapidly. Looking out at the east bay hills I imagined I was looking at the North Cascades from Seattle :)

Nice shots finckster 8)

Snow videos

Some video footage on Vimeo of the Bay Area snows. Spectacular snowy scenes!

Skyline Blvd. - Russian Ridge, Long Ridge, Castle Rock (3:12)

Rose Peak with 6-8+ inches of snow and great views (9:28 )

The snow over the Diablo Range was visible from space!

Very beautiful, Pantilat. Wish I had "gotten sick" and gone hiking that afternoon!

Sorry, that's just my little joke :) Snow on Diablo doesn't usually last very long .. our climate here in the bay area is just too mild. There's a Diablo webcam here -

I usually head up Mitchell Canyon from this trailhead -

This is the right time of year to be doing it .. nice and cool. I don't go near the place in the summertime.

I used to fly from San Diego to Seattle along the J5 jet route at about 35,000 feet. From above Tahoe, I could see from Mount Shasta all the way to Mount Rainier.
