New elf? WTF? Another MAN?

when are you going to appoint a female elf? '
bloody men's club.
there's several very eligible female climbers here who would make a good elf.

I think Anita would be a great elf. Or Sarah.Simon, or Moni. The trouble is, they have to accept. It looks like an obnoxious job. Power to the people who accept the task of herding angry cats.

I think most of the job is with the serious side of the site. Look at Vid, for instance.
Off-Route is Bob Sihler's and dadndave's business to take care off.

I don't see you whining over on the Taco about something like this.

Chris Mac amongst the rest of that "Old Timer's Tribe" over there would laugh you right off that site.

Why do you do it here.

What has Supertopo with this site to do?
Is that an argument against having a female elf too?
Are you against the thought?

Look at the list of female climbers, there's some very accomplished, intelligent and experienced climbers here, and Off-Route is not the site, just a tiny little corner of it. It's been running for 10 years soon. That there would not be any appropriate woman who would fit to be an elf, is not very likely.
The site is mainly populated by men, but a tenth are women. None in the management are women.

How many women have been asked to become an elf?
It's a joint decision among the existing elves who should be added to become one.

Who gives a ratass who or what gender an Elf is.

Why do you always ploy a thread for some kind of gender or political cause.

My statement stands, post a thread such as this over on ST and your ass gets laughed right outta there in less than five minutes. Promise.

To keep SP politically correct we must institute the following:

Total number of members and by percentages we need ALL the following represented:
Democrats and Republicans
Males and Females
Gays and Lesbians
Caucasians, Blacks, Asians, Mexicans, Middle Easterners, Indians, etc. (sorry I wasn't very PC here)
Rock Climbers and Peak Baggers
IQ's above 125 and below
Exibitionists and those that don't flaunt
Québécois et Québécoise (edit/update)
Served in the Mllitary and Did not serve (edit/update)
Transgenders and Those that can't afford the operation. (edit/update)

Did I cover everyone?

Lighten up Stevie, obviously nothing serious to my post.

But how would this site change if we added a few women as moderators, elfs etc?
Shut up and add a group that I've neglected. :)

WTF??? How the HELL are there no blooody elves out there whose avatars are dedicated to the memory of 19th century Anglo-Irish courtesey Viscounts???? Such underrepresentation is a blooooody outrage!!!!

seriously, are we on this website unable to go a whole week without whining about something?

a day, even?

does whining about the preponderance of whining count as whining?

Twoshuzz, good luck. You'll need it.

Do we have proof that all the elves are actually men? Are we sure the members who claim to be women are telling the truth? How do we know that members supposedly under age 18 aren't actually Chris Hansen? The internet is a confusing and dangerous place.

It's funny how the discussion actually is more serious in Off-Route, than in Site Feedback.

But to those who don't read Off-Route; here's part of an answer to dadndave, which might enlighten why I think it's important:

That's good, I hope the remaining one doesn't decline. As in any other part of society, a gendermix in management is good for the whole. Even if the view on things are the same in many issues, they differ in others. Management of anything sets it's print on how things evolve within that group/company/society/community/whatever. Always. It's inevitable.
That's the reason why I want the elves to be mixed genderwise too.

It's not a criticism towards the working elves, but when new elves are added, it's an important factor to consider, as there are only male elves at the moment. The women here are a minority, but serious in the pursuit of what this site is about. Or, of course, as serious as the men, there's all kind of degrees of seriousness in that pursuing.

I don't belong to those who consider it a promotion, but I do think it's important who they are for the development of the site. The more devoted and interested, the better, with an understanding for the broad diversity the members display in how they are involved in outdoor activities.
