Demo skis

So I know that Mammoth Mountaineering already had their big demo ski sale, but I was wondering if any of the other guys in The Bay Area/Tahoe/Eastside are going to be having any soon. Anyone know anything?

I'm looking for a decent AT setup, don't mind buy new boots if they are on sale a bit, but I'd like to get some used skis to save a bit of money.

Trekking pole parts

Maybe an SP'er can help. I've got a set of REI "summit" trekking poles, model 7075-T6 and the middle section expander is stripped so I can't tighten the pole. The poles are manufactured by Komperdell in Austria. I've tried to find replacement parts at REI both locally and on-line. They are no longer getting parts from Komperdell and they suggested I try the company. I've tried contacting Komperdell, no response. I guess I could just ...

Boots for big feet

So right now, out on the east coast, I'm hiking in New Balance running shoes.

I'm strongly considering taking a temporary position in Utah for the months of October and November and I'm looking to climb some mountains during this time. Tall peaks like Mount Timpanogos would be high on my list of peaks to bag while I'm out there.

The shoe I'm wearing right now is a 15 wide. The options for me at ...

Mountain Hardwear Costumer Service

Does anyone have any experience with Mountain Hardwear Costumer Service?

I sent them an email two weeks regarding a tent that I think has some manufacturing problems including some pictures, and got no reply.
I reply a week ago asking for some answer and again got nothing.

I did receive the return receipts from both emails.

Is this usual, to take so long?

Should I try something else?

Help is welcomed,

Thanks

Luís

Suunto X10 GPS/Altimeter Alternatives

I'm ready to get into the 21st century and purchase a wristop GPS/altimeter. I like all the features I read about the Suunto X10. However, the reviews on durability have been really bad. I don't think this is the right unit for me. I'm pretty hard on equipment.

Can anyone recommend an alternative with the following features? 1) GPS including pace, distance traveled calculations, 2) barometric altimeter, 3) digital compass, 4) watch with split timer, ...
