Anyone heard the news of Forrest on Denali?

Per a fellow snowshoer I met while training on the Skyline Lake trail at Stevens, Forrest (can't recall last name; I believe he was a former guide with RMI) and a partner were climbing the Cassin Ridge quite early this year. Evidently, they had some issues while getting down.

Royal Robbins RIP

Just heard that Royal Robbins passed away yesterday. Royal was the American Legend of the 20th Century climbing. He was at the development of big wall Yosemite techniques and over the years always understood where the next level of the world of climbing was. Suriving a 2,000' fall on Pyramid Peak

cripes. can't believe this guy survived. most impressed that he self-extracted with a broken pelvis. guess the rescue choppa was not available.

The Azure Window is no more

Earlier today, the famous Azure Window collapsed during a storm. The top was almost 30 m above sea level. The roof as well as a big chunk of the pillar on the left are gone now. For more information, see The Times of Malta.

Falls on Sugarloaf Mtn. Maine and Angels Landing,Zion

An employee of Sugarloaf Mtn Ski area fell on the "Skidder Trail" (double black diamond) and did not revive. A deceased hiker was also found at the foot of Angels Landing.
