I got permit for Mt Whitney end of May. Based on current conditions https://www.fs.usda.gov/recarea/inyo/re ... 6&actid=51, it looks like after the first 2 miles, it is completely snow. Hopefully by end of May , conditions change a bit and snow melts so i can walk as much higher as possible towards summit. Looking for some recommendations of places/town to base myself for a week and join in with beginnerish type of rock climbing (or scrambing/mountaineering) courses - either Italian or French Alps.
