"The Wildest Dream"

I just saw this documentary:

Anthony Geffen's documentary exploring the mystery of famed British adventurer George Mallory, who -- along with fellow climber Sandy Irvine -- perished while attempting to reach the summit of Mount Everest back in 1924. Eight years after discovering Mallory's preserved body in one of the most treacherous areas of the mountain, American climber Conrad Anker teams with British mountaineer Leo Houlding to retrace Mallory's footsteps on the North East Ridge ...

Well I climbed Cadair Idris on Sunday and it was a shock to the system I can tell you!!

World's dumbest bear canister question...

If I buy a bear canister, do I just keep it in my tent with me? Or do I then put it in my pack and hang it from a tree as well?

Do they prevent scents from getting out, or are they just made to keep the bears from getting in and ever realizing any food rewards?

What is this?

I have long debated posting this photo. There is something in the sky that I cannot identify. The object is left center of the photo just above ridge line. Maybe someone here would know.I took it up in GNP about three years ago.

Image

It looks like a nose cone of a rocket to me. Weird though huh?

Heights Of The Principal Mountains

Just ran across this cool depiction of the relative heights of Earth's mountains; it sure would be nice if there was a better explanation of the image so I could understand when it was created and what exactly is depicted, but nonetheless, it looks like something that would look very nice on the wall in my office!

Edit: Probably helpful if I add the link:
