(Rainier/St.Helens/Adams/Hood) Spring 2016

by Jose84 » Sun Jan 17, 2016 1:49 am

Hi Everyone..!

I'm looking for parthner(s) to climb some peaks of this area on next spring 2016 (April - May) .
My priority are Mt.Rainier and Hood, but i would like to climb Mt.adams and St.Helens or another options that the "Locals" would know.

I've long time experience hikking snowed volcanoes in south of Chile (Where I'm from), but I'm beginer climbing technical routes.
These three as examples:
LLaima http://www.summitpost.org/llaima-volcano/154360
Villarrica http://www.summitpost.org/villarrica-volcano/151480
Lanin http://www.summitpost.org/lanin-volcano/151038

I Really would like to meet people to go there and why not.. to make some hikkings/climbs back in Chile as an interchange.
So if someone local or traveler wants to join to go to one or all of these peaks please let me know.
I'm going to be based in Vancouver, BC next spring, so we can arange one or a few short trips to try it.

Thanks a Lot fot your attention :!:

Was just in Chile over the holidays. For sure will want to go back.

Hey guys, I'm another Portland area local with summits of all the above peaks and definitely game for climbing with new company instead of solo slogging it! If you plan anything for early may or otherwise, drop me a note?

Just be aware of the "permit system" on St. Helens. Not only do you have to buy a $22 climbing "permit" but you also have to have a "parking pass" which costs $5/day or $30/year I think. Yes, I know, that's double taxation. Yes, I know, it provides no benefit to the mountain in any way, shape, or form. Yes, I know it is only meant to harass climbers. Don't blast me - I'm just relaying the info.

Looks like no weekend permits are available. I am not sure how many permits are available past May 31 but it looks like NO permits are available - either that or else they have not gone on sale yet. Great "service" by the Forest "Service", eh?
