Dingell Public Lands Bill

by tedryan10 » Sat Mar 16, 2019 9:27 pm

Hi all,

As I'm sure you know, Senate Bill 47 became law this week to a lot of fanfare. The Summit Post community no doubt depends on public lands for the hobbies we enjoy.

I wrote a piece about the climate implications of the package and would love your feedback.

Sec. 1119 is probably the most heinous giveaway. The Washington Post published a thorough, and unheeded, analysis of the con:

"The latest plan would go even further than the 1998 one. That program required veterans to have a historical connection to the land they selected. In the new bill, vets could choose land regardless of connection. Heirs would also be eligible for a claim. They can turn around and sell it to others for development."

I have read the post on climate implication. DO you think this proposal will make a better in the long run for USA? :)
