Thanks for the vote and the latitude/longitude coordinates. Unfortunately, I didn't stay too long on the summit because I had people waiting for me. So I don't have any pictures of the oak or beech trees.
Thanks for the vote. It was very crowded when I was there too.
Your probably right about the tigers. I think there are only about 200 left in Thailand. Of course, I didn't see any of them. Got the info from my book.
I was born in Mountain Home. A lot of my family lives in southeastern Idaho in the cities of Grace, Pocatello, and Preston. I try to climb at least a few mountains in Idaho each year.
Yes, it was a good trip. The last time I was in Thailand was 17 years ago when I was a little kid. A lot of things have changed. It was strange seeing a KFC and Pizza Hut in town. I did a lot of traveling when I was there. I got to see several National Parks, Historical Parks, Temples, and visited the country of Laos. In my research I learned that there are over 100 National Parks in Thailand and a lot of mountains.
I wanted to go on the Lone Peak climb but I had this big trip planned. I don't get to go to many places out of the country. MOCKBA's trip report shows that you all summited. You got some really great pictures in there.
Nice addition to Thailand's growing list of locations on SP!
For three years I've lived only three hours from Phu Kradueng, but never visited. I keep hearing about it from my students and friends. Your post has motivated me to buy my bus ticket and strap on the day pack! Thanks! Glad you had a great trip back to the Land of Smiles.
That's great that you live in Thailand. Your page on Doi Inthanon motivated me to go visit Northern Thailand.
It isn't too hot in the winter and now is a good time to climb Phu Kradueng. My family lives 3 hours from the mountain also. Another one that I recommend is Phu Reua located west of the city of Loei. It is an easier hike than Phu Kradueng and it's very scenic.

Anyway, I was told that there hasn't been any tigers sighted for at least a decade.

It's always good to hike in different types of terrain. Talus and boulder hopping can get a little boring sometimes.
