...above the clouds.
Fantastic views northwards towards the Roque de los Muchachos on the rim of the Caldera de Taburiente.

Ruta de los Volcanes
First of many summits to be climbed the day after Christmas 2009. Great views which turned worse during the day. Birgoyo still was cloud-free when we summitted.

Great view
We started out from Refugio del Pilar, climbed up and followed Ruta de los Volcanos. The weather was just so nice with a clear sky, We have lovely pictures and memories for all life :)
Route Climbed: Ruta de los Volcanes coming from the south Date Climbed: Feb 28th 2005
In a classical miscalculation we decided to skip Birigoyo for later that day when we started out from Rif. del Pilar. Took a lower trail to the east instead which took us to Pico Nambroque. From there returned along the Ruta but once on the ridge clouds wouldn't leave us alone. Scrambled up to Birigoyo but had no view, not even into the crater. Took the northern route to descend and once back on the Ruta had perfect views towards the Caldera de Taburiente. Birigoyo - as could have been imagined - was cloud-free
