The name

Hi Walter!
Just curious - On my SP page I have the names Gran Cir and Grosse Cirspitze. You are saying here: Piz da Cir. Do you know - what's the Italian name and what's the Ladinian name? I guess I will need to update the title of this mountain page.
Thanks,
Vid

Re: The name

Hi Vid,
the thing is quite complicated!!!! As always in Alto Adige - South Tyrol where three different languages and cultures meet. The correct ladin name of this group of towers is Pizes de Cir, plural name which includes both peaks. Sometimes you will find Pizzes da Cir - Tschierspitzen in German.
In Italian there are various ways to call these two peaks. The plural name that indicates both mountains is Gruppo dei Cir or Piz da Cir, the single mountains are: Gran Cir (or Grande Cir) is the italian name of the peak on the left (the highest). Piccolo Cir is the name of the lowest on the right. Sometimes the name Gran Piz da Cir and Piccolo Piz da Cir are also used, but it is less correct.
Now I have confused your ideas even more....
Ciao, Walter

Re: The name

No, you explained very well, Walter! Thank you! So, I will keep the name of mountain page, because it describes only one mountain (I wasn't on the other one). Do you want the rights over the Gran Cir page?
Ciao,
Vid

Re: The name

I would gladly take the rights of the Grand Cir, I climbed it about ten years ago by the route Demetz!
Thanks to you, too!
