So beautifulChandra, you really have fantastic shots of Corno Grande and whole area, this one is no exception! I used to think that highest peaks of Apennines weren’t some interesting mountains. Didn't have any particular reason for that, guess no quality info is to blame. Thanks to you I realize it couldn't be farther from true. And now I would like to visit some day...so many wishes so little time/money :-)
How high is that face?

Re: So beautifulThank you Velebit!
I can assure you that the Appennines are worth the trip. On beautiful winter days you can see the high peaks of Albania and Bosnia from the summits of our mountains, so you see Croatia isn't that far!
I don't know a better place! Come to visit it!
The face is 1600 metres high.

Re: So beautifulChandra, have you seen this view from the slopes of Sveto Brdo (1751m), second highest peak of Velebit. From the map it seams to me it should be Corno Grande and surrounding area, maybe you can even recognize exactly what it is. So it is not only Bosnia and Albania you can see but also Croatia. From every part of Velebit Apennines are visible.
Your photos already assure me it is worthy trip :-) From my city of Zadar there is ferry to Ancona which makes it even closer. One day I will visit for sure.

Re: So beautifulwoooooooow!!! fantastic man!!! I've never seen it that way!
there are 3 groups on the picture. The group on the right is (not Gran Sasso) called "Monti Sibillini" with Monte Vettore (2476 m on the left end of the group) as the groups highest summit. The group in the middle is called "Monti della Laga" with Monte Gorzano (2458 m) (remember my "pace" pic on top of the cross, it was taken on one of this groups mountains.) The group on the left is Gran Sasso!!
I can recognize every summit but it is very hard to explain it!
What a pic I can't believe it! THANK YOU!
