70 Peaks In 30 Days  Sucess!

This was part of a month long solo peakbagging trip in which I hiked every day and got 70 peaks in 30 days. I hiked the north road and bagged all 4 peaks before driving over to do Mount Wilson in Arizona later that day.

For numerous photos and brief route descriptions see the trip report.

After Sunrise at sunset  Sucess!

Hiked up to the top near sunset after hiking to the summit of Sunrise earlier in the afternoon. Nice early evening view, though there was a bit of a haze hanging over the city.

Seems that, unfortunately, some more dumping has been going on there, despite the efforts to curtail it. I stumbled upon the most gruesome dog carcass at the base. That was a bit startling.

overnighter with my 6-year-old  Sucess!

After having hiked to, and camped at, the saddle between the north peaks of Frenchman Mtn., I hiked up the northeast peak (3,858 feet) and then my daughter Jackie and I climbed up the northwest peak (3,942 feet). From there we called my mom on the phone, had her look for us through the binoculars and then hiked down and drove over to her house for breakfast (my parents live at the base of Frenchman Mountain)

It was worth it  Sucess!

I parked at the wrong place and started hiking up the wash, thinking that there was a trail. After a while, I came upon a VW Beetle that was half-buried in the wash. I looked at the bullet-riddled car and wondered how it had ended up there. After seeing three more vehicles in the wash and some junk about 40 feet up on the banks, I figured it out.

I scrambled up the bank of the wash and ended up on the 4WD road. From there, I decided to hike up to the saddle and see the views. It was shaded at least part of the way, but some of the switchbacks ended up in the scorching heat. I reached the saddle, and admired the views of Frenchman Mountain.

I realized that I didn't have enough water to make to Frenchman, but the summit on the right was calling me. I scrambled up to the summit ridge and hiked to the top.
