Pigan - Pollock - Bishops Cap seemed not bad but rainy weather hit us on Bishops Cap and made the last section at the top very dangerous. We should have gone down instead but climbed it anyway in near zero visibility. Young and daring! (stupid). Made it back O.K.
climbed many times by a few of the routes. great cleft is the best. also a great link up with bishops cap and piegan
14 of us climbed Pollock!
First real peak I climbed in Glacier the summer of 96. Started with two friends, summited alone...they were not as interested in summits as I was ;-)
2010 Aug 26 with Paul & Bill. Started at Logan Pass due to road work. Used the Great Cleft trail. Weather was too sketchy and very windy to do Bishop's Cap. Went back down to saddle between Pollock & Piegan then down to Piegan Pass and up to Catarrach. Came out at Siyeh Bend and took bus back to Logan Pass. Great day!
This was mountain #2 on a traverse that included Piegan (first) and Bishops Cap.
Really fun approach to the summit through the vertical chimney on the south face. Excellent view. Grabbed summit of Piegan the same day.
With Holly, Sean, Magic. Windy. Up from Lunch Creek, down to Siyeh.
Very nice views on a very nice morning
Climbed through the Great Cleft on a perfect August day. One of my favorites. Climbed with Rebelgrizz and Cougar14.
2002 with Dennis, Bud, John and April. Also summited Bishops Cap.
1983 with Bill. Also summited Bishops Cap.
1982 with Bill. Also summited Piegan.
Ascended via Lunch Creek. Climbed the Great Cleft, Continued on to Bishops Cap. Returned back to Pollock, down the cleft then dropped off the east side of the saddle to Piegan Pass and out to Siyeh Bend. Very windy day 20-30mph.
gorgeous, breezy day atop the summit. traversed to Bishops Cap after summit of Pollock. returned to Pollock, and rather than climbing back up to the summit, we followed a wide, scree-covered ledge at the base of the cliffs west of the summit block. very easy walk all the way back to saddle between Pollock and Piegan; simple, scenic descent down to Piegan Pass from there.
Beautiful day except for 50 mph winds trying to blow me off the exposed summit. Took the south face cleft, which was a lot of fun, then hopped over to Piegan Mountain before dropping back down to Going to the Sun Road.
Climbed with Rebelgrizz and JFK. Climbed the Great Cleft which was an interesting and fun climb. The summit was closer than I had expected. No wind at the saddle and hardly any at the summit. Couldn't of been a better day.
Climbed with G.M.S
Climbed a few times via Great Cleft.
Climbed via lunch creek and Great Cleft. Wind strong at saddle, kept lifting helmet off my head. Descended via west face of Piagan avoiding cliffs
Attempted Pollock after summiting Piegan 6 days earlier. The route wasn't easy to find. Fortunately, on my 2nd try I came across a couple of climbers who knew the route.
Climbed via Great Cleft with Vantana and the OTHG. Super wind and snowy on Summit.
Second time with much better weather. July 25, 2010 with Tim B. and Matt R.
Third time 8-18-10 another nice day on the Garden Wall. With Bill S. and Ransom M.
