Power Dome Approach

Randy Wenzel and Brian Borowicz make the descent down 3rd and 4th class slabs to the base of Power Dome. Although not the only choice for the approach to Power Dome routes, this descent affords for a quick return to parked vehicles once at the top of the dome. There are bolted anchors, in the beginning of this descent, for an optional rappel to the base. If one can read the rock well enough, a line of weakness will reveal itself. In the authors opinion, this is the fastest way of descent and an alternative approach if the Helm's Creek is flowing too big to cross (typically early in the season). *Note the chains by Randy's left hand*
